Chair massage is done on an easily movable chair in a relatively small area (5’ X 5’). You sit on the padded chair, leaning forward with your face resting comfortably on a padded face rest. The massage therapist massages your head, neck, shoulders, back and arms, increasing blood flow, relieving tightness and overall stress and fatigue.
How is a chair massage different from a table massage?
With a chair massage, you don't disrobe. You are on a comfortable massage chair leaning forward where you can completely relax. A table massage requires privacy and quiet. If you have had these massages before, you know both are wonderful! The chair massage allows you to get quick results in a limited period of time, allowing you to get back to your activity fully energized.
What about my knee issues if I have a chair massage requiring my knees to be bent?
I have worked on many people with knee replacements and other knee issues. When on the chair, rather than bending your leg, your leg is outstretched in a very natural position.
How long is a chair massage?
The time is flexible, but we generally do 20-minute massages. It is the perfect amount of time to loosen tightness, invigorate, work sore muscles, relieve stress and increase blood flow without making you drowsy. It is not only energizing, but promotes a higher level of performance.
Will I get oily from my chair massage?
You will stay fully clothed during the massage so no oil or lotion is used. However, at your request oil or lotion may be applied on the arms and hands.
What if I have one area in particular that is really tight or sore?
Communication is key. Our trained therapists will ask you first if you have any areas that need special attention. You can always adjust them as the massage is in progress, such as more pressure, less pressure or needing more time in one specific area. Our therapists are trained to do the best job for you!
How much room do you need for a chair massage?
Generally you need a 5' X 5' area, but we can work with less room if necessary.
